Report Noxious Weeds

Understanding and tracking the location of noxious weeds throughout Kitsap County is key to prioritizing and maximiing control efforts, but our program cannot do it alone. We rely on reports from the public to help identify and monitor the location and distribution of priority weeds.

Step 1: Identify the Plant

The first and most crucial step is figuring out exactly what plant you have found. Not all unusual plants are noxious weeds, so proper identification is key. Use this Weed Identification Tool to get started.

Step 2: Decide if It Should Be Reported

Regulated Noxious Weeds

Our program prioritizes the control and monitoring of what we call "regulated" weeds. Some weeds are required to be controlled or eradicated by landowners. These include all Class A weeds, Class B designates, and any Class B non-designates or Class C weeds that have been selected for local control by the Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Board. Reports of these plants are used to guide the program's outreach and monitoring efforts. Please use SeeClickFix at Kitsap1 for these species.

Non-Regulated Noxious Weeds

Although control of ALL noxious weeds is encouraged, our program cannot conduct enforcement of non-regulated species – Class B non designates and Class C weeds. While we can't act on every infestation, we still want to know where the weeds are. If you'd like to help us keep track of noxious weed distribution throughout the county (and we need help), please use iNaturalist to report.

Step 3: Submit a Report
You can share your observations through SeeClickFix or iNaturalist. Due to limited staff capacity, we may not respond to every report individually but rest assured, your submission is reviewed and considered as we prioritize control efforts.
