Borrow a Bin

​​​The Borrow a Bin program makes recycling at community and personal events easy. We provide portable bins, signs, and bags to community organizations, groups, and individuals at no cost. Bins are available on a first-come, first-served basis.​​

How It Works

1. Identify your event needs.
   Decide how many recycling and garbage bins you’ll need. We have five recycling and five garbage bins available.
   
   
2. What is included.
   We provide the frame, lid sign holder, recycling or garbage guide signs, extra bags, and bin assembly directions.
   
   
3. Fill out our borrower’s agreement and receive confirmation.
   The agreement serves as both a reservation request and confirmation that the bins will be returned. After submitting the form, you’ll receive a confirmation email from a staff member.
   
   
4. Pick up bins during scheduled business hours.
   Pickup location: Kitsap County Public Works Annex 8600 Imperial Way SW, Bremerton, WA 98312.
   
   We recommend bringing a vehicle with large trunk space, such as a pickup truck and securing bins with a tarp, net, straps, or other tie-downs.
   
   
5. ​​Dispose of collected materials.
   Borrowers are responsible for disposing of collected materials. Check with your event venue about disposal options first, if applicable.
   
   Small amounts can be placed in your curbside cart.
   
   For larger amounts:

   • Contact​ your local hauler or a permitted solid waste hauler for a one-time pickup.

   • Self-haul materials to a local drop-off facility (fees apply for garbage).

   • Remember that Washington law requires all loads to be secured.​

   Leave recyclables loose and place the provided plastic bag in the garbage.

6. Return clean bins, signs, and extra bags within three business days.
   Borrowers must return bins, signs, and all extra bags in clean condition within three business days of the event.
