Kitsap County Solid Waste is hosting a Fix-it Fair at the Bob Oke Long Lake Community Building. Join us and our community partners for this free event in which people with repair skills share their time and skills to fix their neighbor’s belongings.

At the Port Orchard Fix-it Fair, volunteers will help repair:

      • Mendable clothing and textiles like tablecloths, curtains, jeans, and more (sorry, no zippers)
      • Holiday string lights
      • Small household appliances like lamps, vacuums, toasters, and more
      • Jewelry
      • Knife sharpening (limit 1 item per participant). This is a no-fee professional service provided to the public by a knife-sharpening vendor. Kitsap County is paying for the service on behalf of the public through a service agreement. This is a pilot service, and future knife-sharpening services are not guaranteed.

Please make sure to bring:

      • Manuals or repair guides
      • Special parts that are specific to your item
      • Thread, fabric, or yarn that matches your clothing item. We’ll have various thread colors available, but if you’d like your thread to match your item, we recommend bringing a color match.

Community partners at the Fix-it Fair

In celebration of community, SK Helpline is joining us at the Port Orchard Fix-it Fair to collect food donations. A donation box will be available at their table. We kindly request the following items for donation:

    • Canned green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin, soups, cream of mushroom soup, fruit, meat, pie filling
    • Boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, cereal, pasta, pudding mixes
    • Other dry goods – gravy, broth, ramen, crispy onions, rice, pie crust

Please note: the Fix-it Fair event is free, and you do not have to bring a food donation to participate.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue fire alarms and extinguishers outreach
South Kitsap Fire and Rescue is joining us to provide information and education on smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms. They’ll also do a visual check of your fire extinguisher to ensure they are in working order and give any suggestions and education that is needed. Come chat with their Community Risk Reduction Specialist to learn how you can be prepared to keep yourself, your family, and your home safe this holiday season.

Curbside food and yard waste outreach
Our solid waste staff will share information on curbside composting services, holiday recycling, and more! We're happy to answer your questions and provide resources to help you recycle and reduce waste confidently this season.

Please visit our main Fix-it Fair webpage for more information on preparing before you visit a Fix-it Fair, including what items not to bring.
