Vehicle limitations

Waste must be unloaded by hand. No tipping.​ Due to limited capacity, this facility may not be able to accept large loads (over 3 cubic yards) or bulky items (larger than 3 cubic feet). If your load cannot be accepted, you will be referred to the Olympic View Transfer Station.

Unsecured loads

Customers who arrive with an unsecured vehicle load are charged a $10 unsecured load fee. Aviso en español.​​​​​​​​​​

​​Disposal and recycle fees

Fees effective January 1, 2026. Fees are based on size and volume of waste, not weight.

Washington solid waste collection tax (3.6%) is applied to waste transactions, except recyclable waste and unsecured/uncovered load fees.                                                                         

  • Garbage, solid waste:
    $15 for first can, tax included
    $9 for each additional can, tax included

    32 gallons = 1 can, 64 gallons = 2 cans, 96 gallons = 3 cans                 

  • Garbage – loose: $56.01 per cubic yard, plus tax  
  • Mattress, box spring, recliner: $17 each, plus tax​​                        

  • Sofa: $67 each, plus tax   
        

  • Sofa with bed or recliner: $77 each, plus tax                                   

  • Roofing, drywall: $117 per cubic yard, plus tax. Non-asbestos only.                                   

  • Appliances: $29 each, recycled
    Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, dryers, dishwashers, heat pumps, ice machines, residential HVAC units, refrigerators, residential furnaces (without asbestos insulation), trash compactors, stoves, ovens, washers, water coolers, water softeners, water heaters, and well water pressure tanks. Must be empty. Customer must unload. No commercial appliances.       

  • Unsecured/uncovered load fee: $10 per unsecured vehicle load

Olalla Recycling and Garbage Facility recycling area

Accepted for free in self-service recycle yard. Items must be empty, clean and loose. Do not bag recyclables.

      • Plastic bottles, jugs, jars and dairy tubs (no lids)                

      • Metal cans (no loose lids)                

      • Glass bottles and jars (no lids)               

      • Cardboard (flattened)               

      • Paper (mail, magazines and catalogs, newspaper, office paper, phone books, paperboard boxes, etc.)            

      • Scrap metal (must lift into container and contain no fluid, batteries, or vehicle parts)               

      • ​Clothing and shoes (must be dry)

Check-in with staff for free disposal

      • Cooking oil - before recycling, filter the oil at home to remove food scraps and solid fats. Place solid fats and food particles in the garbage    
            

Paid recycling

​Drive to attendant booth window to pay for the following:           
    

    • Appliances. Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, dryers, dishwashers, heat pumps, ice machines, residential HVAC units, refrigerators, residential furnaces (without asbestos insulation), trash compactors, stoves, ovens, washers, water coolers, water softeners, water heaters, and well water pressure tanks. Must be empty. Customer must unload. Commercial appliances not accepted.    

            
          
​Limited household hazardous wastes

Accepted for free in self-service recycle yard

      • Small household batteries (alkaline, button, rechargeable, and lithium)                      

​​Check-in with staff for free disposal
      • Vehicle batteries from personal vehicles - less than 50 pounds
      • Antifreeze from personal vehicles - limit 5 gallons per day
      • Motor oil from personal vehicles - limit 5 gallons per day​ 
      • CFLs from households
      • Other mercury-containing lights smaller than 24 inches in length from households. Limit 15 per day. Keep dry. Do not tape.
      • Sharps from households. Limit 3 containers per day. Sharps must be placed inside FDA-approved sharps container (quart sized preferred) or heavy-duty plastic container (liquid detergent or bleach container). Only fill container to 3/4 full. Label container with "Sharps - Biohazard." Notify staff that you have sharps for disposal when you arrive.​

​​Not accepted materials

Items not accepted at this facility include:         

      • No asbestos or asbestos containing material

      • No asphalt/concrete pieces larger than basketball size

      • No asphalt/concrete loads larger than 15 gallons

      • No batteries over 50 lbs.

      • No commercial appliances, antifreeze, batteries, mercury-containing lights, motor oil, sharps

      • No flammable waste, including ammunition, flares, explosives, fuel

      • No garbage containing fluids or batteries

      • No hazardous or dangerous wastes other than those limited items accepted from households

      • No hot or unsoaked ash, briquettes, coal, fireworks

      • No items containing liquid or fluid​

      • No liquids​

      • No medication

      • No mercury-containing lights over 24 inches in length

      • No paint, stain, or solvent

      • No pressurized tanks, compressed gas cylinders, fire extinguishers

      • No radioactive materials

      • No riding lawnmowers

      • No sharps in unapproved containers

      • No tires

      • No TVs, computers, monitors, laptops, tablets, e-readers, portable DVD players

      • No vehicles, vehicle parts, motors, engine parts, trailers
