 The Commission's Responsibilities

41.14 RCW, requires counties to appoint a three-member Civil Service Commission, charged with establishing a merit system of employment for employees of the Sheriff's Office. The Commission is required to make rules and regulations detailing the manner which examinations, appointments, promotions, reallocations, reinstatements, demotions, suspensions, and discharges shall be made. The Commission also hears and determines appeals on suspensions, demotions, and discharges.
