Point No Point Stormwater Study

About the Project

Existing stormwater conditions in the Point No Point area have posed periodic challenges to residential areas, public infrastructure, habitat and water quality. Kitsap County Public Works Stormwater Division seeks to better understand how stormwater affects the Point No Point area. This study will help us understand current conditions and prepare for what we might face in the future as our climate changes and sea levels rise.

Using science-based methods and stakeholder input, we will perform hydraulic and hydraulic modeling. The analysis will evaluate stormwater needs both with and without a proposed estuary restoration project planned for the area. We will create computer models to see how water moves through the neighborhood under current conditions and under different future scenarios—both with and without restoration work. By understanding these patterns, we can identify potential stormwater management approaches—ones designed to be resilient as our climate shifts, land use changes, and natural areas are restored.

At the end of the study, we will have at least three conceptual stormwater management design alternatives for consideration. The findings from this study will inform discussions about stormwater management options in the Point No Point area. This will help us identify feasible, cost-effective solutions that reflect community input, environmental priorities, and future conditions.
