The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life. As part of the ADA planning requirements, public agencies must develop an ADA Transition Plan to evaluate existing facilities such as sidewalks, curb ramps, and pedestrian signals within the public road right of way and outline efforts to correct findings of non-compliance.
Kitsap County Public Works has developed a draft comprehensive
ADA Transition Plan to help identify barriers that impede access for people with disabilities to county right of ways. Kitsap County Public Works is soliciting
public comments on the plan from
Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 through Friday, Jan. 31, 2025.
All feedback received during the public review process will be considered. The draft document will be finalized and adopted by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners in the spring of 2025.
