Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Program

The Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Program exists to protect our local landscapes, natural resources, and agricultural areas from the impacts of invasive, harmful plants. Established under Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 17.10, the program is part of a statewide effort to prevent economic and environmental damage caused by noxious weeds on both land and water across Washington. Each year, the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board updates a statewide list of noxious weeds, which every county must review and adopt. These weeds are classified as Class A, B, or C, depending on their threat level and distribution.

Our program is guided by this legal framework but also depends on community engagement. Residents like you play a vital role by helping us identify, report, and manage these regulated noxious weeds, especially Class A and designated Class B species, which are prioritized for control in Kitsap County.

What is a noxious weed?

Noxious weeds are invasive, non-native plants that can threaten agricultural crops, local ecosystems, and human and livestock health
