Program Overview
​Kitsap County is proud of its citizens who have served our country. The county is dedicated to providing information and assistance to our veterans who are residents, especially those in need. ​The Kitsap County Veterans Fund (VF) works in coordination with the Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) to host events, provide information to available resources and services, and create opportunities to get involved and support local Veterans and their families in need.

Veterans Assistance Fund
​Kitsap County Department of Human Services administers the VF (formally known as the Soldiers and Sailors or Relief Fund); the money comes from a small portion of property taxes and is dedicated to providing assistance to veterans and their families in need. If you need assistance, please select a link below to get started. ​Dial 9-8-8 then press 1 to connect with the national Veterans Crisis Line to reach caring, qualified responders with the Department of Veterans Affairs specifically trained and experienced in helping Veterans of all ages and circumstances. Many of the responders are Veterans themselves.

​Kitsap County veterans, active-duty, or family of service members looking for help with filing for VA benefits can get in-person assistance with the claims process in Bremerton and Silverdale. Benefit counselors will meet with individuals on a first-come, first-served basis. Veterans Administration disability claims assistance  

Are you looking for assistance with filing a claim for disability compensation through the Veterans Administration? For questions about filing a disability claim please call the VA's Benefits Hotline 800-827-1000 or visit How To File A VA Disability Claim | Veterans Affairs. Use the VA Appointment Scheduler to schedule a virtual or in-person appointment.
