About the program
The Kitsap County Internship Program provides college students from sophomore to senior year with immersive, hands-on experience in public service careers. Through meaningful projects, one-on-one mentorship, and structured professional development opportunities, interns gain practical skills while contributing to real community outcomes.

Our program bridges academic learning with workplace application, helping students build professional networks, identify career goals, and develop the skills needed for success in government careers. We are committed to creating pathways that prepare the next generation of public service professionals through real-world work experiences.

As an intern with Kitsap County, you will: 
    • Apply what you've been learning in the professional workplace
    • Work alongside dedicated subject matter experts who are passionate about training
    • Contribute to meaningful projects
    • Attend professional development workshops and begin developing your career! 

Duration of internships is typically 10–12 weeks, aligning with a school semester or quarter.

Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university.

    • Must provide proof of enrollment upon hire. If interning during the summer, proof of continued future enrollment must be provided.

    • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of internship.

    • Desired majors will vary depending on department needs.

    • Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the U.S.
