Argument writers requested for Primary measure
PORT ORCHARD – The Kitsap County Auditor's Office – Elections Division seeks volunteers to write an argument and rebuttal against a ballot measure proposed by Kitsap Regional Library.
KRL's levy measure will appear on August 5 Primary ballots.
If you are willing to write an argument against the measure, please contact our office by Thursday, May 8 at auditor@kitsap.gov or (360) 307-VOTE (8683).
Committee members must be residents of Kitsap County to draft arguments for the Local Voters' Pamphlet.
According to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280, districts proposing measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. When they are unable, the Kitsap County Elections Office seeks writers. The county can name up to three people for the committee. They are appointed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Arguments are due by May 13. Rebuttals are due by May 16.
The Primary Local Voters' Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals.
The resolution submitted by KRL is at the Resolutions page on the Kitsap County Auditor's website.
The format for writing arguments can be found on pages 16 and 17 in the Candidate and Guidelines Measures Guidelines Book.
