Kitsap County Board of Commissioners


The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners operates as a commission form of government per Washington State Constitution Article 11, section 5, and the Revised Code of Washington (RCW). The three-member Board is responsible for the legislative and executive functions of county government and serve full-time, four-year overlapping terms. The primary legislative powers of the Board of Commissioners are found in RCW 36.32.120 and RCW 36.40.100.

The Board oversees county operations, sets policies, enacts code provisions, and adopts budgets that guide the delivery of county services and support the County's mission and vision. The Board directs the County Administrator who manages the Human Services, Public Works, Community Development, Parks, Information Services, Human Resources, Administrative Services, Medical Examiners and Facilities departments.

The Board of Commissioners holds regular business meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the second Monday and 10 a.m. on the fourth Monday of each month (except December and holidays) in the Commissioner Chambers of the County Administration Building, 619 Division Street, Port Orchard, and via Zoom.
